The First Post

Wow. This is epic, is it not? Typing that first post. It should be witty, entertaining, and contain SOME form of information. Let's see if it delivers. I guess I should really introduce myself. I feel like I am someone that most people can relate to. I got married after my sophomore year of college, got pregnant as a Senior, had Lucas in April, finished school that fall. Then that following January Waymon and I separated, I started dating a wonderful man, moved in with him that July, got pregnant that November, and Lylah was born this past July. That may have been an intense run-on sentence. I am a Christian, but definitely not doing things as I should. I fell out of the habit of going to church and have been meaning to get back in...for the past 2 years... We are currently still living together and were planning a wedding, but Saturday changed our minds. We just found out two nights ago that we are expecting (technically) baby #4 (#3 for me though). I am SO excited, although the thought of taking on another life form is very daunting, especially with Lucas going through the Terrible 2s. He turns 3 in April so maybe it will end soon...if my ex hubby would ever make his mother actually discipline him instead of giving in to his every wish. But enough about that. So instead of the beautiful, simple wedding in May, we're going to high-tail it to the JP and save our invisible cash for moving to a bigger place and getting a second crib.

And speaking of money...

I am so proud of myself. Today I accomplished something. I actually created a budget. Yup! It is on paper and, even though it won't be fun, we'll get on it by the end of February! Woohoo!!! My secret was to take all of our bills, order them by when they come out, and then divide the total payment by how many pay periods you receive in a given month. For us, we get paid every week so I divided by 4. So the bills are all divided, everything get's paid on time, and we get our credit up where it is supposed to be. All of this is typed into Word, I have our bank accounts texting me every time a transaction happens, and hope that we get this in hand. I have the Dave Ramsey book, but just haven't read it yet. But here is the most epic quote I've gotten from it so far:

"Don't take financial advice from poor people."

Common sense, but so true. Everyone tries to tell you how to manage your money, but if you know they aren't managing their money well, DON'T TAKE THEIR ADVICE!!

And on that note I'll end for now. Here's to wishing for a populated blog sometime in the future!
